FOUNDATION FOR A BETTER FUTURE
In 2019, Kevin Carter became aware of the issues children encountered that hindered their creative sparks, mostly due to exposure to lifestyles beyond their control and the elimination of art courses within Chicago public schools.
Wanting to change the narrative, Kevin, Darell, Jide and Jordan took a stand against these negative influences by initiating the 'Pursuit of the Youth' gift drive during the holiday season, inviting individuals around the city to donate toys. The idea was to use toys as instruments to enhance imagination and empower creative thinking in children. Since 2019, we’ve delivered over 2,500 gifts to students in both South and West Side communities of Chicago.
After becoming a nonprofit in 2023 as Dreams in Progress, our goal has been to expand beyond our gift drive and provide mentorship, creative workshops, and access to resources to help enrich the overall life experience of the youth.
